The first year of the AAU Mathematical Sciences Society (2023/2024) has been marked by a series of successful events and initiatives, strengthening the academic and social community within the Department of Mathematical Sciences. From fostering connections between students and faculty to celebrating the beauty of mathematics, the society has laid a strong foundation for future activities.
Key events included the celebration of Pi Day, bringing together students and faculty for a day of mathematical appreciation and fun. A Meet Your Professors event was organized to encourage interaction between students and faculty, fostering academic dialogue and mentorship. A popular mathematics lecture further enriched the society’s mission, offering engaging insights into mathematical concepts beyond the classroom.
One of the year’s highlights was the Alumni Reunion Dinner, a milestone event that reconnected past graduates with current students and faculty, strengthening ties within the department and providing valuable networking opportunities.
In addition to events, the society launched its first publication, The Aalborg Mathematician, along with subsequent addendums featuring interviews and insights from key figures in the department. This initiative has provided a platform for discussions on mathematics, research, and student experiences, further enriching the academic culture at AAU.
With a successful inaugural year, the Mathematical Sciences Society has established itself as a dynamic and engaging organization, setting the stage for continued growth and new opportunities in the years to come.
